NEED A PLACE TO STAY?—HOW ABOUT A COSY MOUNTAINERS HUT?

NEED A PLACE TO STAY?—HOW ABOUT A COSY MOUNTAINERS' HUT?

Inspired by the historic mountaineer’s huts that typify the New Zealand Southern Alps, our accommodation has been created by adventurers for adventurers. Among a host of other inclusions, we have a sauna, our popular ‘Base Camp Food Over Fire’ licensed wood-fired restaurant, fire pits, festoon lighting, wifi (although we encourage a different kind of connection) and have gone to some trouble with the little things that we think make all the difference.

WHAT TO EXPECT

A TRUE SOUTHERN ALPS EXPERIENCE

We are local mountaineers who felt our backyard was too good not to share and have carefully designed Base Camp to our specifications to ensure an authentic experience.

LUXURY SHARED FACILITIES

All guests have full access to our shared facilities which includes private showers & toilets, a sauna, laundry and drying room with configurable racks and a world-class ventilation system.

DINING AT
BASE CAMP

Guests are not permitted to cook at Base Camp but you’re welcome to dine with us at our wood-fired restaurant. You can add a dinner and breakfast reservation to your stay for the the days you’d like to eat with us.

PREMIUM LINEN AND BEDDING

While we have gone without certain luxuries in the name of simple pleasures, we couldn’t resist high thread count sheets, down pillows, and comfy mattresses to ensure the best sleep possible.

WOOD-FIRED HEATING

Similar to the mountaineer’s huts you might find in the field, our cabins each have their own wood-stack and are kept warm with small, clean wood burners. In the colder months you may need to add logs occasionally to ensure a cosy room.

MORE THAN A CAMPGROUND

While we may appear similar to a campground, we do not have the facilities to accommodate tents or camper vans. Instead have cosy mountaineer’s huts, our wood-fired restaurant and guided wild nature experience packages.
