A private multi-day glamp escape with a wilderness fire-cooking workshop at its heart. The experience moves gently between controlled environments and wild nature. You will workshop meal plans and learn how this informs your fire and utensils strategy, all before your hike.

- Groups of up to 5 people (maximum 15 guests in 3 modules)
TRANSFERS
- Our adventures are designed as self-drive experiences. Guests make their own way to and from Base Camp, and to and from the start and finish points of their adventure
- Prefer not to drive? Private transfers between Queenstown and Base Camp, and between Base Camp and your adventure departure or return point, can be arranged on request (additional charges apply)
WHAT TO EXPECT
- We help you with your packlist pre arrival
- Briefing and gear check at Base Camp when you check-in
- The hiking terrain will be selected for weather and will be tailored to suit your particular group’s fitness and experience. We like to keep it within normal everyday fitness requirements and you require no previous experience
- Fire-cooked meals at your glamp
- The incredible team from Base Camp Kitchen will be preparing all your meals
- Drinks included
- Heavy canvas glamp tent(s)
- Wood fired tent heater (s)
- Traditional canvas bed rolls with goose down and linen
- Staff will sleep in their own tents nearby
- There is a toilet tent
- Your accommodation will be private for you and your troupe

ITINERARY
DAY ONE
- 3:00 pm: Check in at The Great Glenorchy Alpine Base Camp
- Welcome and briefing
- Introduction to a cooking fire
- Drinks & dinner at Base Camp Kitchen
- Night at The Great Glenorchy Alpine Base Camp
DAY TWO
- Breakfast at Base Camp Kitchen
- Assemble at Base Camp Kitchen for the plan in detail
- Morning tea
- Depart Base Camp Kitchen & field lunch.
- Field course and camp experience commences:
- Equipment, hygiene & safety
- Meal plan, preparation & logistics
- The fire pit
- Wood selection
- Correct axe use
- Wood splitting technique tips
- Preparing the cooking areas
- Cooking over fire (best utilisation of rising and falling heat)
- Using cast iron
- Good smoke and bad smoke
- Plating up
- Cleanup including correct maintenance of cast iron
- Camp overnight
DAY THREE
- Prepare breakfast fire
- Cook breakfast
- Transfer to Base Camp Kitchen
- Showers, sauna & lunch at Base Camp Kitchen
- Set fires and work with the Base Camp Kitchen crew to prepare dinner for you and the other guests
- Night at The Great Glenorchy Alpine Base Camp
DAY FOUR
- Breakfast at Base Camp Kitchen
- Debrief
- 10:00 am: Check out

We like to touch base about 2 weeks before your scheduled check-in time to go over gear, the plan in detail and to make sure you are as excited as we are
