ITINERARY
Day One:
Arrive at The Great Glenorchy Alpine Base Camp and get settled in. You’ll meet your guide, who will brief you on your adventure and check your gear.
Tonight, you’ll stay at Base Camp where we have everything you need for a good night’s sleep ahead of tomorrow’s adventure. Enjoy our amenities like the cosy mountaineers’ huts, sauna and licensed wood-fired restaurant, ‘Base Camp Kitchen’.
Day Two:
You’ll be up nice and early to enjoy breakfast at Base Camp before hopping into one of our Defender 4X4 vehicles with your guide. A short drive takes you to the heliport. From here, it’s a spectacular flight into the mountains of the UNESCO South West New Zealand World Heritage Area. Note that all flights are weather-dependent – if it’s not safe to fly, we’ll have a contingency plan for you.
Arriving in a magical winter wonderland, you’ll help set up your alpine camp, complete with a wood-burning brazier and canvas tents. Afterwards, we’ll have refreshments so you’re refuelled and ready for some fun in the snow. We’ll tailor this part of the adventure to you: you could go exploring on show shoes, or simply have some good old-fashioned snow play together.
Back at your snow camp, you’ll help to prepare dinner before relaxing together around the wood-burning brazier in your ‘glamp’.
Day Three:
Wake up to the sounds, sights and smells of the mountain, and enjoy breakfast in your cosy canvas tent. There’s then time for a few more snow activities before you help to pack up the camp and hop back in the helicopter for a flight back to Base Camp.
On your return, you’ll have a quick debrief with your guide. The fire will be burning, the sauna will be hot and there’s a hearty meal to be had at the restaurant.
Finally, retire to your cosy mountaineers’ hut for the night.
Day Four:
It’s time to say goodbye! Enjoy breakfast at Base Camp and take your time packing up and checking out. Transfers to Queenstown Airport are available if required (just ask us when booking).
