Explore a little known, remote river valley and a magical mossy forest before a fantastic scramble up into the alpine zone to find another world teeming with glaciers and snow capped mountains. All well and truly off the beaten (tourist) track.

ITINERARY
Day One:
Check in to The Great Glenorchy Alpine Base Camp before 8.30 am. Meet your guide for a gear check before you head off in our Land Rover Defenders for an epic 4×4 transfer to your starting point of your tramp. You’ll hike through stunning diverse terrain up into the alpine zone where you will set up camp for the night.
Day Two:
Up early, break camp and return to the Land Rover Defenders via a different route along a ridgeline descending through the Beech forest. Then 4×4 back to The Great Glenorchy Alpine Base Camp for showers, sauna, debrief, bar, dinner at Base Camp Food Over Fire before you retire to your cosy mountaineer’s hut.
Day Three:
Breakfast and take your time checking out in the morning, transfers to Queenstown Airport are available if required.
FITNESS
You will need to be in good shape. We recommend at least 6 weeks of regular walks carrying a 10-15kg backpack. If your hiking boots are new, breaking them in during this training period is recommended to save discomfort in the field.
