Fish Face
Spring is definitely here. Spectacular calm and warm (if not hot) days.

Crystal clear streams are flush with snow melt and many of them alive with fish. It’s little wonder our recent adventure ground testing has had us tramping along river banks, fishing and camping. The wildflowers have started to bloom this week too, postcard stuff. Another very picturesque time of the year for sure.

We have been working on a series of hiking packages that include fishing, some with camping and some without… and some with helicopters and some without. The rivers, creeks and ‘burns’ around here really are something else, and we have been checking out the terrain on many of them. Someone has to do it. We have been thinking about experienced fishing enthusiasts and we have also been thinking about beginners. Everyone has to start somewhere.

We like the idea of four-wheel driving to a point, hiking to another point deep in the world heritage area, setting up camp and enjoying a day or two fishing, cooking, eating and playing. With a heli or a rafting trip home to the Great Glenorchy Alpine Base Camp where you can sauna, freshen up, enjoy a few bevvies and re-live the mission.

Christmas is around the corner and our big push to complete the construction of The Great Glenorchy Alpine Base Camp is all-consuming. Mike and the team are doing a great job. Our individual adventure packages will be up on the website for the very first time (ever) early in December this year. You will be able to register interest in some, and you will also be able to book/purchase others. Our first guests are expected on Thursday 31st March 2022 and we can’t wait!

We have been talking with a few early small enquiries behind the scenes (thanks for the DMs!), it’s been like a dress rehearsel for us. One of our first guest groups includes a friendship group of six sassy girls from Auckland. They have gone for a five-day package from the ‘camping Not Camping’ adventure category. They will all be sharing one of the bunk room huts at the Great Glenorchy Alpine Base Camp each night. Their days will be adventure filled, with three of those days being guided. Their package includes two summits and we know they’re looking forward to it as much as we are. There is a helicopter transfer here and there, with their last day being lunch at about 2,000m above sea level in a pretty amazing high-alpine hut. They’ll be cooking up a big thank you for their guide (lucky fella) and that prep will be provided by the team at The Great Glenorchy Alpine Base Camp.
