AUTUMN

Another pretty damn special adventure. Heli to a remote glacier, get to know it, hike across it, pack camp beside it and spend two days hiking (descending) through mindblowingly beautiful, wild and remote valley systems, including the Rees River Valley. Two nights pack camping, one night in one of our remote heavyweight canvas traditional tented camps and a Defender 4X4 trek back to The Great Glenorchy Alpine Base Camp.

Not every adventure hike in our back yard needs a guide. The Routeburn track finishes (or starts) nearby the Glenorchy township, there's also the nearby Rees-Dart walk, the Greenstone and Glacier Burn, just to name a few self guidable missions.

Some training and preparation leading up to putting your new found survival skills into practice. Hiking, camping, shelter building, navigation, foraging, catch and cooking. Educational. Guided.

Heli up into the remote and wild high alpine zone for a night of ‘hut life’ (the high life). There is much to do up there all year round. During the snow season this area has amazing snow for snowshoeing, ski touring, making snow caves and we can organise the technical equipment for you. During the ‘little to no’ snow season there are some wonderful tramps to suit a range of ability...

Rates will vary with group size. Shared bunk hut, bunk hut for your group only, self contained huts or a mixture of everything. Tell us about your group and we will come back to you with pricing.

Family huts with shared facilities or, if the kids are old enough, a hut for mum and dad and a bunk hut for the kids.

So you want to be able to say you’ve summited a mountain? How about two? Mount Larkins and Mount Alaska to be specific. Heli to our Conservation Area – Whakaari traditional heavyweight canvas tented camp from where you will plan and execute your summits.

Heli (return) to a hidden remote, spectacularly beautiful river and lake system in a pristine wilderness valley. Be dropped at point A and trek/camp to the heli pickup point. Packrafting in parts.  No wifi and you’ll love the connection.

Travelling alone? Shared bunk hut, hut for yourself or a self contained hut - up to you.

Heli (return) to a remote wilderness ocean beach and estuary system. Hut camping or camping. Coastal hike. Fish. Freedive. Spearfish. Cook. Eat. Laugh. Sleep.

Hike (or heli) into the high alpine zone and spend a night in traditional heavyweight canvas tents complete with wood fired stove heater and a camp oven cook-up prepared by our team. Zero night sky pollution. AMAZING!

So much to see, so little time. A whole day in a helicopter, landing regularly in some of the most amazing spots in the world. Picnics and small walks. A day to remember and definitely one for the books.

This particular adventure is one for the books. You will heli onto a high alpine terrace near Park Pass, explore the Park Pass Glacier and its surroundings before descending to Park Pass, then up to Lake Nerine, North Col, descending into the North Branch and on to the Routeburn flats to a waiting Defender 4X4 to shuttle you home to The Great Glenorchy Alpine Base Camp. You will be pack camping and we couldn’t overstate the ‘awe’ factor of this epic adventure.
